Piret Jaaks

Biography

Piret Jaaks (1980) is an Estonian writer and playwright who studied theatre research at the University of Tartu and completed doctoral studies in dramaturgy at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. In addition to writing nearly 20 plays, she is the author of three novels and six children’s books, including Mommy’s Dragon and A Big Secret, both of which have received international recognition.
Her work often combines magical realism with emotionally rich storytelling. Jaaks’ children’s books have been translated into several languages, and her plays have been staged in Estonia and abroad. Her work has earned several literary and theatre awards.
